MicroBot Hub is a bridge between the MicroBots and the Cloud. It is optional but useful to add a Hub to ensure that MicroBot Push is permanently connected to MicroBot Cloud, making it always available for remote control and integrations, wherever you are.
- an Android or iOS device authenticated to MicroBot Cloud. See Authorize your device.
- Network specifications: 2.4 GHz WiFi (not 5 GHz), WiFi's SSID without uni-code and special characters (+, &, #, @, ; etc.), password with WPA2/AES.
Place MicroBot Hub. MicroBot Hub connects to MicroBots via Bluetooth. Make sure that you place your Hub within the Bluetooth range: 30-60 ft or 10-18 m from your MicroBots. Please note that this distance may be shortened due to the surrounding environments (presence of walls, many networks...).
Installation. Power your MicroBot Hub and wait until the AP mode is activated. In AP mode, MicroBot Hub’s LED blinks alternately in blue and red. See MicroBot Hub LED Status.
Note: If the LED never becomes blinking blue and red, please make ensure whether you’re using a 5V-2A adapter. Some power outlets have an unstable power source, so please also try a different outlet, especially when the LED stays in BLUE indefinitely.
Add a Hub. In MicroBot Push app, tap, then select ‘Add a Hub’. Then, tap 'Proceed'.
Connect to the Hub. Go to your device’s WiFi list in Settings, connect to your MicroBot Hub's SSID (prota-xxxx) and go back to MicroBot Push app.
Connect the Hub to the WiFi. Enter your WiFi’s SSID and password, and tap ‘Next’.
The Hub will automatically connect to your WiFi network. It can take up to 5 minutes to connect.
Once the connection is successful, the Hub’s LED will blink in green and blue.
Note: Please make sure the WiFi network you selected is connected to the Internet.
Note: If you’re setting up from Prota S, please ensure that the WiFi network contains only alphanumeric characters in the password.
Note: If the LED doesn’t become blinking blue and green in 10 minutes, please reboot the Hub and try again. Do not reset the device.
Initialization. Once MicroBot Hub is connected to the network, wait until the initialization is completed. It may take a while.
Note: Depending on your network and various factors, the initialization may take up to 30 minutes before it proceeds to the next step, authorization.
Authorization. At the end of the initialization, authorize MicroBot Hub by either touching the pop up notification or clicking on the Magic Link you received by email. Then, tap done!
Once the authorization is completed, your MicroBot Hub (prota-xxxx) can be found in the left side menu, together with your smartphone and paired MicroBots.
Note: In the list of registered devices, if your MicroBot Hub's name is highlighted in light yellow, it means the initialization or upgrade has not been completed yet. In this case, tap on your Hub's name to resume it.
